I found this horse liberty work when I was on YouTube and I thought it was amazing! I am hoping to try some of this moves with Juniper in the future.

Juniper's First Lesson
I had my first lesson on Juniper on Sunday! I had a lot of fun and my trainer really liked her! We worked on loosening her shoulders, and getting her to collect by pulling back and asking her to go forward instead of just vibrating our fingers. Her previous owner asked her to collect by vibrating her fingers, this is not the best way to collect a horse. Here are some pictures of me in my lesson. :-)

About Our Trip to Canada
We are back from our trip to canada. :-(
We had so much fun! We drove up to Anacortes Washington and then took the ferry to Friday harbor which we stayed at a bed and breakfast for a night. On the way to Friday Harbor, the ferry made a stop at Lopez Island. While we were there, there was bald eagle just on the beach down to the right of the ferry. It was just fishing for minnows of the shore. A few minutes later a second bald eagle comes down to fish too. I took several pictures of them fishing and fighting over the fish. Here are some pictures I took.
When we got to Canada the next day, we drove to Victoria and stayed there at a Bed and Breakfast for two nights. The B&B was right by the ocean and Larissa and I had the best view out our window! We did not have time to go whale watching and I was sad we did not get to see any orcas. We say lots of seal though, and a red fox, we also saw an otter! My mom really wanted to see an otter.
The day before we left we went to the famous Butchart Gardens! We saw so many flowers there! I also had my first real english tea with the tea tray and everything! Most of the things I didn't like, but the rest of it was good! I took over 300 pictures this trip, but I can't post all of them! Here are some pictures of the flowers we saw.

Canada
Our family is off to Canada tomorrow for the weekend. We are leaving really early tomorrow and coming back on Monday. We are staying at a bed and breakfast in Victoria. I have never been there and neither have my parents. We are not taking our dogs with us and our usually pet sitter is not going to be available so we are dropping them off at Sniff which is a hotel for dogs. It is a real hotel for dogs! They give massages, walks, play time, a TV in their room, and after four nights they give the dogs a free bath! Our dogs are going to have quite the experience. They are all going to sleep in the same room, and there room has windows so they can have the sun on them.
I will post pictures and write about our experience when I get back from the trip!

Juniper Vet Check
We had the vet check for Juniper this morning and she passed it! She is officially our horse now! She did really well for the vet check. She had a little bit of lameness in her right back leg, but it is not going to effect what we are going to use her for. When the vet was stretching her we found out she was very flexible.

Juniper
Juniper is hopefully going to be a new member of the family! She is going to be my new horse if she passes the vet check which I hope she does! She is a half paint, half kiger mustang mare. She is buckskin with white splotches and black dots on her legs. She is super soft and is very, very willing. She is super sweet and I hope she becomes friends with our other horses Ciara and Raven! She is a true all around horse, but I think my main focus with her is going to be jumping. :-)

Whales In Hawaii
This video is made up of pieces of other videos that I took while we were whale watching in Hawaii. This was when we went on spring break in February. I made this on Imovie so I added music and pictures to the video. The music I chose is from the movie Inception, which was awesome and I recommend you see it if you haven't already! We saw many whales on the whale watch we took. There was one point where a whale slowly lifted itself out of the water tail first. I only got a couple seconds of it on video but it was amazing to watch. I didn't even know they could do that! You might have to turn the volume up because the music is kind of quiet. The quality of the video is not amazing so would watch it on the small screen instead of going to full screen. I hope you enjoy the video!

Yellowstone
Part of our summer vacation this year we spent driving around the northwest part of the USA. We took three weeks where we just toured around different places with our RV and one of those places was Yellowstone. We spent the last part of our trip there and saw many different things. On any other trip I have taken I don't think I've seen so much wildlife! We saw bears, bison, mountain goats, big horned sheep, elk, deer, rabbits and much more! Larissa and I even saw a moose but our parents didn't. We saw so many amazing geysers and hot springs! I took a lot of pictures and videos. We have been to Yellowstone before, but this trip was my favorite! Here are some pictures of the mountain goats we saw. I was literally around 10 feet away from them!

About My Blog
Hi Everyone! This blog I'm starting is the first one I've ever done, so hang with me if there are long periods of time where I don't write anything because I can't think of what to say. This blog is not going to be about just one thing like a story, or a journal about my day, but about many different things! It could include poems, pictures, short stories, or anything that I just feel like writing about.
If you are wondering about my title "Rose of the Desert", I did not just pick it randomly; it does mean something. The Rose is like when I have a brainstorm on something, or when I figure something out that I can write about it. The Rose is everything I put in this blog. The Desert is the long sections of time where I am siting somewhere trying to figure out what to say. Where my mind is blank and refuses to be creative. When I do get inspiration from somewhere and I have topic to write about, that is when the Rose comes out of the Desert.
